Toothache day!?!? Sounds weird!! Though it may sound weird and new, “National Toothache Day” is celebrated every year on the 9th of February. As strange as it may sound, it may prompt this question:” Why would anyone celebrate this nagging toothache????”
Well, as an answer to this question, this day is celebrated to raise awareness about maintaining good oral health and highlighting dental issues, that would prevent toothache. This pesky toothache puts one in a difficult position to eat, sleep, talk, or carry out any day-to-day activities. Though this may seem not as worthy as celebrating, this day benefits by serving as a kind reminder of overall dental hygiene and its benefits.
“#National Toothache Day” serves as a reminder to people to look out for their own oral well-being. Looking at how this day evolved, though there are several researchers still gnawing at the origin of this achingly interesting day, to date the basis of this national toothache day remains unclear. But the history of science dealing with toothaches goes as far back as 7000 BC. Dentistry is one of the oldest medical professions, but it was refined and defined only in the eighteenth century, with a comprehensive treatment system emerging for caring about teeth and oral health care, implementing modern practices in treating all types of disorders and ailments.
These health events play a key role in reminding the populace to pay attention to oral health as a prime and essential step towards maintaining healthy teeth that are also pain-free. Toothaches prompt a person to be proactive in scheduling and visiting the dentist for regular check-ups and cleaning.
This day also emphasizes avoiding sugary foods which are found to be the main cause of tooth decay and simple carbs, as that also paves the way for oral health problems.
The main objective is to utilize this day as a perfect opportunity to raise awareness about oral health, spread knowledge, and deliver information in a motivating way. When it comes to maintaining good oral health and avoiding related ailments, preventive care is the primary goal. Toothache can make us miserable, and if left unattended, can lead to severe infection, which can also spread to other vital organs.
